Let's Hear it For Simon -Thanks For This Board - And All it Accomplishes

i think it's only appropriate to put out a thread to thank simon for the great job he does in moderating this board, watching over discussions to make sure that the purpose of jwd discussion stays focused .

i believe that he and the mods do a great job in helping this board along in it's journey - and enables us to have the freedom of speech- without having fear of reprisal - as long as the guidelines are met.

so, i for one would like to personally thank you simon - for bringing this board into existence, as it has helped many to be able to vent after leaving the jehovah's witnesses cult, and get support, and for others it has helped them have a great place to discuss many important topics that have a heavy play in many of our lives !

JWD- Some of the Best Supportive Discussion I've Seen

it certainly is a diverse board we have here , isn't it ?

we all come from different backgrounds, walks of life, and had different experiences in growing up as children into adolescence.

so it should suffice to say, that we will all have a variety of takes on various issues that come up on the board.

Mr. Flipper,

When I realized that I had serious doubts about my faith, there was no one to talk

to. Since I was an elder, I knew what would happen if I expressed my doubts so

I kept it all bottled up inside my brain.

Having JWD is very theraputic since we can post our thoughts and inner most feelings

without the fear of being called back to the library at the Kingdom Hall. It is also very

encouraging to read the posts of all of the friends here that feel just like I do.

I would be go into withdrawal if JWD went off line.

Nothing has changed. I recently attended a DA on the weekend. They have the

same feel and apearrance as the assemblies in the 1960's and 1970's. The only

diference is that they are not in outdoor stadiums and now that I know the truth about

the truth, they are more painful to sit thru. The only good thing are the good meals

in nice restaurants in the evening.

What a great idea for them to buy bill boards along the highway or to use the

internet to reach the people in China and India. Why doesn't the WTBTS spend

some of the millions they have stashed away, unless the end is not near and

they are trying to scare the flock into more service to get more money.

If the JW's really believe what the Witchtower Babble and Trick Society says about

the end being so close, do their actions betray what they preach? If you knew that your house

was going to burn down next year wouldn't you take the necessary steps to protect your

property and the lifes of your loved ones? If you knew that next year a dam near your home

was going to break wouldn't you take steps to safe lives and property? If the JW's really

believe what the Washcloth Dribble and Trick or Treat Society is saying about the nearness of

the Great Tribulation, why don't they quit their jobs and preach full time? Why not sell their

homes and live in a camper and go preach in areas of the nation where there are no Witnesses?

How many are dropping thier life insurance? If this is too extreme, why aren't all of the JW's

preaching all day on Saturday or Sunday. Why not cancel the ministry school and service

meeting and everyone go out and preach because the end is so close?

I guess that I am just tired of thinking about what I believed in for most of my life and how

I was lied to and all of the false hopes that were drilled into my brain.

Thank you Simon for this site and also to all the mods. The first thing that I do

every day it turn on my computor and get on JWD. It is so refreshing to be able

to say what it on your mind or read the comments of the JWD Community without

the fear of being hauled to the back room to sit in front of 3 elders who sit in

judgement of you.

Again thank you so much. I owe my sanity to this mental oasis.

my wife excitedly told me that she talked to the wife of an elder that just came back from.

the special training for elders in upper state new york and that the elders are being told .

to go back to their congregations and to get them ready for the great tribulation.. i said to her that is great news !!!!

I really thought that I was making some headway with my wife and she was starting

to miss meetings without feeling guilty. Then this news about how close the end is

and she reverts right back to her good old JW mentality. The WTBTS knows what they

are doing. They are pros at the carrot on a stick and serve me or die. They have been

at it since the late 1800's.

I said to her that is great news !!!! Should I stop saving for our retirement or is it OK now

to quit my job and just live off of our savings? She was not so sure after that statement.

I told her that I said the same thing back in the early 1970's when I was an elder. In

fact I told people that they would die in the fall of 1975 if they did not become JW's.

Those people just laughed at me and said that I was crazy. The Witchtower Babble and

Trick Society knows that they had tremendous growth during that time because of the fear

factor. Now that their growth numbers are not doing so good why not try the same

tactic again? The Witnesses who are loons will get worked up into a frenzy as well

as the young ones who did not experience the "stay alive till 75" doctrine. The ones

that are on the fence and who are doing some internet researching will be see the need

of speeding up their fade of just dropping out of the book publishing company.

However I think that there will be a net gain by the upcoming "the sky is falling" hysteria

which will only lead to disappointment in 5 years as once again the flock read too

much into what the Society actually said.

I appreciate your thought process and I do believe that you are correct. I still go to a few

of the meetings to keep the peace in the family, however life as a JW is very empty because

of a lack of charitable works. I have attended a few Catholic wedings and how I enjoyed the

music and the beauty of the church. I felt a closeness to God that I have never felt at

the Kingdom Hell. Life as a JW would be so much better if they acted Christain and

followed the teachings of Christ like loving your neighbor as yourself. JW's love their

neighbors so much that they can not wait for the God of Love to destroy them.

they have any growth beside the babies that they make? The only reason that

my mother listened to the Witchtower Babble and Trick Society was because

God was going to destroy 99.9% of all mankind and usher in a wonderful paradise

in the very near future. (that was 55 years ago)
